Looking for quick and easy hot snacks to prepare for your bonfire celebrations. Two of the ideas we gave in Slimtone classes this week will go down a treat. Cut into chunks some grilled sausages, add to a large can of baked beans, sitr in brown sauce and serve over hot jacket potatoes. Another favourite is stir fry lots of vegetables with sliced chicken. Warm bread wraps and fill with with stir fry and season with sweet chilli or plum sauce. Serve with Butternut Squash and red pepper soup and you will certainly make everyone’s celebrations go with a bang.
We still have the cold weather with us and I hope the ideas with breakfast and soups have been useful. Look for low GI ideas which will sustain you longer. Try the seeded wraps filled with stir fried vegetables and seasoned with sweet chilli sauce. The microwave steam bags are ideal. Simply pop in the vegetables season with ginger, soy sauce etc. and in a few minutes you will have a warm satisying lunch. Toasties are another filling meal the Slimtone favourite is the corned beef and onion serve with a can of tomatoes. Jacket potatoes with chilli or curry is another healthy option. Roasted sweet potato is really tasty and an excellent low GI option. If you are going Christmas Shopping have the roast dinner which is not only filling but quite a low calorie option.
