Make your Bonfire Night go with a Bang

The weather has certainly turned colder this week and  our Slimtone members all agree that a warming bowlful of soup is always welcome on a chilly winter’s night.  Our Mexican Chilli Beef Stew  from our popular Soup Book is the perfect hearty meal for the Bonfire Night celebrations and as a winter snack.

Serves 4 – Approx 100 calories per portion

125g/4½oz lean minced beef   – 1 large onion, chopped
1 red pepper, diced-                    1 tin chopped tomatoes
1 small tin red kidney beans        ¾ pt beef stock
½ tsp chilli powder                       1 clove garlic
Salt

Finely dice the onion, red pepper and garlic. Seal the beef over a medium heat and drain off any excess fat. Add onion, red pepper, and garlic and continue cooking until the meat is browned. Add the tomatoes, kidney beans and the stock. Season with salt and the chilli powder and mix thoroughly. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Allow to cool and liquidise or blitz with hand mixer to thicken. Enjoy with a slice of French bread.

Chinese New Year,

If you are looking for a healthy eating recipe to celebrate the Chinese New Year Slimtone has the answer. Our recipe for Chicken & Mushroom curry is a firm favourite with our member. You can find this on our current recipes on our home page. Also, if you are looking to celebrate but do not have a lot of time for preparation after work. Simply pop into the local supermarket and pick up a cooked chicken and a jar of their own brand curry sauce. Chop up the chicken, pour over curry and enjoy. My favourite is the Sainsburys basic curry sauce it’s low in fat and calories and is really delicious. At only 9p per jar an inexpensive meal. Please let me know your ideas it is so good to hear from everyone.

SLIMTONE SLIMMING CLASS AT BRIDGEND

It really was emotional finishing our classes in the Dunraven Hotel after over thirty years. The first class at our new venue at Llysfaen was on Friday 19th February and was a great success. A lot of the residents joined the class and it was a great atmosphere. Special congratulations to Lisa who has now lost over five stone and to Eunice who has lost over three stone since September both following the Lifestyle Healthy Eating Plan. Everyone was really pleased for them and all agreed they look really great. It was good to see so many target members at the meeting and they all shared their ideas and favourite low calorie menus with all the new ladies.
